Managed
Lands Deer Permits
The Managed Lands Deer Permit (MLD) program allows landowners
involved in a
management program to have the most flexible bag limits and
seasons possible.
Benefits of the program include extended seasons, increased
individual quotas, and
flexible harvest quotas for your specific property.
There are three levels of MLD issuance:
Level
1. Regular County Season Antlerless:
This type of MLD permit allows the harvest of antlerless deer
during the regular county season. Bucks are not required to
be tagged with a Managed Lands permit
in Level 1. This option is designed primarily for counties
where antlerless harvest is restrictive.
Level 2.
Early Antlerless Season and Enhanced Bag Limit:
Level 2 MLD permits allow the harvest of antlerless deer by
permit from the Saturday nearest September 30 through the last
Sunday in January. Level 2 also allows the harvest of bucks
from the opening of the regular county season through the last
Sunday in January but not during archery season. All
deer harvested on a property with an MLD permit are required
to be tagged with MLD tags provided by the state. There
is no limit to the number of tags one hunter may use from the
quota issued. Therefore, individual bag limits typically
set by your regular hunting license tags are disregarded on an
MLD property.
Level 3.
Extended Season Antlerless and Buck MLDP:
Level 3 MLD permits allow the harvest of antlerless and buck
deer by permit from the Saturday nearest September 30 through
the last Sunday in January. Similar to the other MLD levels,
all deer harvested on the ranch are tagged with MLD permits
issued by the state.
Qualifications
for an MLD Permit include:
1. Wildlife
Management Plan
2. Two
to Four years of census data
3. Implementation
of management techniques such as those described in the
Wildlife Tax Exemption
section.
